Your first mail to VC - Kiss ( Keep it simple and stupid)

How to email a VC (The Simplest template)

lately, we’ve been getting a lot of pitch emails, and many could be way more effective with just a little structure. if you're a startup founder reaching out to investors, here’s a simple, no-fluff email template to follow:

📩 subject: [startup name] – [what you do] – [why this matters]

Hi [investor's first name],

I’m [your name], founder of [startup name]. we’re building [1-liner on what your company does] to solve [pain point] for [target customers].

In the last [x months], we’ve [traction proof: revenue, user growth, partnerships, etc.]. now, we’re raising [$x] to [big milestone you’ll hit with this round].

I’d love to share more and see if this aligns with your investment focus. would you be open to a quick call next week?

Looking forward to your thoughts.

Best,

 [your name]

 [your website]

 [your contact info]

💡 pro tips:

✅ keep it short & clear (no essays).

 ✅ show traction early.

✅ personalize—mention why you chose this vc.

I know a lot of founders will ask—what if i don’t have traction yet?

My answer: try to get an intro before emailing, meet investors at events, or find a way to build a connection first. a warm intro always helps.

Hope this helps! investors, what kind of cold emails actually catch your attention? 👇
