Inspiration for builders !!

Perplexity is quietly building the next big thing on the internet.
Just 18 months ago, it was a $500M company.
In May 2024, it raised at a $14B valuation. Two months later, investors lined up to come in at $18B.
What changed?
– User base: 30 million+
– Revenue: $35M → $150M (annualised) in under a year
– Monetisation: subscription-led ($20–$200/month), now adding e-commerce + advertising
– Product: launched Comet: a browser that doesn’t just search, but acts. It reads emails, shops for you, summarises feeds
– Funding: backed by Jeff Bezos, SoftBank, NEA, Nvidia, and Meta’s Yann LeCun
While rivals are being acquired, Perplexity is choosing to scale and not sell.Their CEO Aravind Srinivas is building for the long game.
And the roadmap is clear: full-stack browser + assistant + direct monetisation → IPO.
Is Perplexity chasing the right path? Or will Big Tech spoil their party by an unexpected acquisition?
